I am facing the possibility of being laid-off over the
next couple of weeks. The last time I was downsized,
I opted to not collect unemployment, as I felt that
since I was a contract employee, it would not be
appropriate to do so. I had always figured that when
you sign on for a contract position, that you more or
less agree that the position can end at any time;
therefore, you likely aren't eligible for
unemployment. Unfortuntely, in the rough economy, I
was not hired for a new position for 6 months, and I
ended up going into debt trying to pay rent and make
ends meet.

With the economy still struggling, I may try to apply
for unemployment this time around. Keep in mind that
I am actively interviewing and networking, and I'd
like to keep working. However, I am being realistic
about the job market.

Any thoughts?

Thank you.

Mike
