I'd suggest a textbook on systems design or development.
For example, my old copy of _Systems Development_
(Jordan and Machesky, PWS_Kent Publishing, 1989)
supplies numerous examples and explanations of several
defend types of charts and diagrams: flow charts, structure
charts, data flow diagrams, and others.
