To add to the points that other folks have already made about how tech
writers add value, there's another way in which we benefit software
developers directly: by providing useful information to support and
implementation staff, we allow these staff to troubleshoot problems by
themselves, without needing to hunt down the developers with questions
whenever a customer reports an issue. If the project is well documented,
the developers can move on with their lives once they're done; otherwise,
they could be fielding questions forever.
