I have used SF Bay Area recruiters several times in my 6 years in the field
(jeez...has it been 6 years already??). Every one of them has been a good
experience. I like working with them, especially when they handle the salary
negotiations. I tell them what I want, and they do the salary dance, and come
to me with a figure. I ended up with a $11,000 raise the first time I used a
recruiter, a $5,000 the next time, and a $40,000 raise this last time (though,
this last time, the company did the salary negotiations--if you can call me
trying to keep my jaw from hitting the carpet when they made the offer, a
negotiation--directly with me, instead of through the recruiter).

But, of course, YMMV.
