We have a quasi-yet-to-be-determined model for this with the Napster issue,
and I, too, believe this decision will significantly restrict the flow of
information. This "victory" may well end up being very hollow.

Except for the end users.

Until recently there were hundreds (maybe thousands) of radio stations that
simulcast on the Internet. Then the courts said that they had to sort of
the royalty issues for the actors in their commercials (part of that whole
commercial actors' strike awhile back). Now I know of only one station that
still netcasts (with a kill switch for the commercials that makes the net
listeners listen to the same two station id's through every commercial
break).

I predict that we will see a lot more articles pulled from the net all
together than we will see free-lance writers receiving royalty checks (not
counting, of course, the court-mandated back royalties).
