TechWhirl (TECHWR-L) is a resource for technical writing and technical communications professionals of all experience levels and in all industries to share their experiences and acquire information.
For two decades, technical communicators have turned to TechWhirl to ask and answer questions about the always-changing world of technical communications, such as tools, skills, career paths, methodologies, and emerging industries. The TechWhirl Archives and magazine, created for, by and about technical writers, offer a wealth of knowledge to everyone with an interest in any aspect of technical communications.

And it is an excellent article, Eric. I particularly enjoyed the section
on "Show, don't tell" and "Take Responsibility."
One thing that I've encountered lately are Tech Pubs Empire Builders. They
are consumed with building a technical publications team or department
that conforms to their vision of communicative purity, that they convince
themselves that existing tools, techniques, styles, or even employees need
to be removed. This typically leads to pointless squabbles over irrelevant
issues and painful meetings where people justify their personal obsessions
with misguided efforts to "improve readability."
Funny how writers always assume their personal preferences improve
"readability."
