Other than quitting, I'm looking for suggestions for handling a
situation I have. Recently I was unable to obtain all of the
information I needed from the software engineers. I was given files
that contained holes instead of requirements. As my deadline grew
closer, I went to my manager. She told me that I should let it go as
is. This document was a very limited release and we'd have the
opportunity to fix it for the next release. I didn't like putting out
a document that didn't live up to my personal standards of quality,
but what else could I do?

Now, months later, I'm being called on the carpet. Apparently the
fact that information was missing was called to manager's boss's
attention. I've been informed (in writing) that I do not meet the
company's standards for a Senior Technical Writer and could be
terminated.

I feel that I can no longer trust my manager. Am I forced to putting
every communication that I have with my manager in writing? Has
anyone been in this position? Any suggestion on how I can best handle
this situation?

And yes, I am putting the finishing touches on my resume, but the job
market doesn't look good. I personally know of two very good writers
(IMO) who were laid off in the past two months.; one has found a
temporary contracting job.
