Thanks to everyone that offered advice to my post "suggestions for a new
tool." Heeding everyone's advice (and now that the manual is off to the
printer, so I can focus on getting it more workable rather than "done") I am
trying to rework it in Word before opting for another solution. It seems a
good solution to me to break the document into separate documents by
chapter. This makes sense because in the future we will be replacing pages
and chapters rather than redistributing the entire document. I easily
figured out how to generate the TOC and index by using RD (referenced
document) fields, however, I hit a wall when I came to a cross reference in
one chapter that refers to a page section in another chapter. Is there any
way to cross reference a heading or bookmark in another document? According
to Word Help, the only way to do this is to employ master/subdocument. I've
been down that road before and I ain't going back! Any suggestions?

Thanks,
