Well, for what it's worth, I just gave a presentation to our
internal Helpline folks, and my boss had me take out the
forecasting slides. I was allowed to leave one slide in: call
it the "Tech writers are your friends" slide wherein I begged
the helpline experts to let the writers know when they ran
across something that should be in the documentation and wasn't.
Other than that, no forecasting and no summaries. (I kinda snuck
in a bit in my speaking, but it wasn't in the slides)
There's no such thing as useless information, only information for which you haven't found a use yet.
