John,

As William answered your question, allow me to comment on one other aspect of your document setup. If you use the markers function in FM to embed your glossary entries, you can regenerate your glossary for each book, and have the glossary update to reflect the contents.

This is very similar to using the Index marker, though the generated file is an IOM extension. The main drawback to this scheme is that marker entries are limited to 255 characters, which means that glossary entries over 255 characters must be split into multiple marker entries. If you use tools like IXGEN, or Silicon Prarie Software's Index Tool Pro, you can manage and manipulate these entries.
