I agree with this assessment. However, I am reminded of my own family. I
am the technical person; my husband can use computers well only because of
the behind-the-scenes work that I do for him (setting up shortcuts, icons,
choosing the best software, etc.). Whenever we go to a computer store,
however, the salesperson generally talks straight to my husband, and ignores
me!

My other gender-non-neutral pet peeve: I sing tenor, yet music is generally
written for "men's voices" and "women's voices." Oh, well.....
