Markus, List, Friends, Romans, Cou... ah hell...

FrameMaker is a documentation application, maintained by Adobe, used mainly
by technical authors who produce large and/or complex technical
documentation.

WebWorks Publisher is a conversion tool for FrameMaker, developed by
Quadralay Corporation, to move your print-format FrameMaker documents to
most forms of online Help and Web formats. There are two forms of WebWorks
Publisher:

WebWorks Publisher Standard Edition - a "lite" version, which allows you to
convert from FrameMaker to HTML and XML, but only offers a minimal amount of
style customization. It's a quick and dirty filter, if you will. WWP
Standard comes packaged with Frame 6.

WebWorks Publisher Professional Edition - the full version, which allows you
to convert from Frame to WinHelp, MS HTML Help, JavaHelp, WebWorks Help
(uncompiled, cross-browser HTML help), HTML, DHTML, XML, and probably a few
others that I'm not able to think of at the moment. It is 100% customizable,
template-driven, and IMHO, a darn handy tool to have around. ;)

I suggest you read up on www.adobe.com and www.webworks.com to find out if
the products are right for you. Frame might be, but WWP is a conversion
utility, not a WYSIWYG authoring tool. You have no UI like in RoboHelp or
ForeHelp... the conversion is all done via macros and building blocks which
you configure and map from Frame to WWP. Many have admitted it's a bear to
learn, but of those many, most survived with a smile on their faces. ;)

I'd be willing to answer any other questions you may have about the
products, but I do strongly suggest you read up on them first, as most of
your basic questions will be answered on the above-mentioned web sites.

Happy Reading!

products.)
