The easiest way would probably be to insert a manual TOC field into the
document. You can add as much text to it as you want.
(With Word 2000 the keyboard shortcut is Alt-Shift-O, same for Word97 I
think).
When you generate your TOC, build the TOC from both Styles and TOC
fields.

Can anyone tell me how to do the following in MS Word? I want text to
be
hidden in the body of the document, but still to show up in the table
of
contents. I've tried formatting it as "hidden" but then it's not
visible in
the T of C. The only solution I've found so far is to format the text
with a
white color, but there's gotta be a better way...
