Jeff,

If printing the screen capture, try changing the dots per inch (dpi) size
rather than changing the size of the image. For example, if your screen
capture is 640 x 480 at 72 dpi, and you need it to fit on a letter sized
page, change the dpi to 100 or 150 instead of reducing the pixel size.

If you're not already using a third-party screen capture tool, then I
recommend TechSmith's Snag-It or Camtasia and/or Ulead's PhotoImpact. Free
downloads are available.

For Adobe Acrobat Distiller, verify that the output (aka, Job Options) is
Press Optimized or Print Optimized vice Screen Optimized.
