Others already commented on the Moire effect.

The best cure that I know of is:
1 Switch to 256 colors.
2 Select the Properties window of your monitor, select
the Appearance tab.
3 Select the scheme "Contrast White" (the German name is
"Kontrast Weiß"; maybe the English name is different).
4 Then change all settings of the different window elements
to the values they had before in your previous scheme.
Leave only the scrollbar settings as they are.

That´s it. It works perfectly. I forgot who gave me this info.
Nothing else (true colour, certain dpi values, scaling,
changing registry entries etc.) worked. Only this.

If you are on Windows NT I could send you the corresponding
reg file to import the settings into your registry.

Cheers,

Winfried
