information? If he can't accept that you understand the
standards of your discipline (as in when to employ active voice
and 2nd person, or any other perspective, for that matter), it's
either tough toenails for him (if he's just a coworker) or tough
toenails for you (if he's your boss).

Not necessarily. In either case, the person may be someone who
needs educating. Many people are of the "show me" persuasion
and, once presented with solid evidence, change their opinions.
Further, they may be doing their best to help, just as we do
when we point out a bug in the code (and sometimes find out that
it was a bug in our understanding, not the code).
