I agree with the person who said that some people
might not be looking for someone to do their work but
a nudge in the right direction. That happened to me
when I was first a tech writer. Someone asked me to do
a flow chart and I didn't even know what one was! It
took some researching on my part but I figured it out
(I wasn't on the list at the time, and truthfully, I
probably wouldn't have asked here unless I had
exhausted all other possibilites). I use this list for
the same purpose in a way. If I'm researching
something, this is a place to start to get a little
more focused in my research.
I'm a confessed format junkie. If I'm at someone's
desk, I'll often ask if I can thumb through some of
their books. I often look at help on Web sites to see
how they structured information.
