Sean. This worked like a charm. I am indeed using Windows NT4 as my OS.

I promise to be better about checking support web sites. I don't always
think of this as an option because I've searched Microsoft's site in vain
on many occasions for answers to questions I had. (Solution -- go buy a
third-party book, I know.) I also promise not to assume that all software
companies behave the way Microsoft does.

Thanks also to John Posada for his tip on using SnagIt's color substitution
settings to make inactive text look active in the capture. I will look for
that in the archives. It sounds like a neat trick.
