But, I'm surprised two ten year olds would think it correct to first cook
the macaroni and cheese on the stove and then re-cook it in the microwave. I
suppose Kraft ought put an age limit on their Mac and Cheese, say, not for
use by persons younger than . . . what . . . 16? Should they state a home ec
course is a pre-requirement for making mac and cheese?
However, I suspect that, rather than throw kids into cooking, they should be
"mentored" (to use a phrase we see a lot around here) into the cooking
experience, such that when they make a dish on their own, for the first
time, the kids will have the background, education, and experience to know
something is not right with the way they are following the directions . . ..
I think, perhaps, cooking is a craft, an art, and the kids have to be
comfortable with the bigger picture and have a frame of reference before
diving into making stuff solo as their first culinary experience.
