I add callouts as text in my DTP app. I don't add callouts to the bitmap
because, even with aliasing, the fonts are less than crisp. Plus, editing
the callout is a pain if the text is in the bitmap.

Ahhhhh. I reject all SME screen grabs and make my own. That way, I can set
the resolution and color depth to meet my file size needs and uniformity
within my document set. It's also a good way to become familiar with the
software and find bugs. Besides, I have found that my SMEs are so familiar
with the process that they often miss steps. Plus, I know best when a screen
grab is needed.

Ah-ha. And, this is where screen-capture software shines. It automatically
crops, selects parts and pieces of windows, or you can manually crop at the
time of the capture . . . which saves you the effort of bitmap editing.
