We have been getting a few signs of economic rocks and rapids ahead. Let
us hope that is all it is, but let us also consider that it may be more
serious than that. We are at the end of a long period of economic
well-being. It may be time for that natural reaction that is to be exepcted
to every action.

A tightening of the economy--a recession, that is--has the inevitable
result of putting pressure on those who are directly responsible for sales
and marketing. For many who choose not to write proposals--for many
marketers, proposlas are their least-favored sales activity-- the pressures
for sales tends to induce them to change their attitudes. That is, proposal
activity tends to pick up when marketers find themselves compelled to
increase sales efforts.

This is probably a good time to become more alert to proposal
opportunities. - Herm
