One more idea, is there, in the directory where the original *.DOC file was
stored, a *.~oc or some such file with the same name and a *.~ extension, if
you delete that file you might find it easier to open the main *.DOC file.

As a sidebar, you may want to make sure the doc is less than 25Mb, anything
over that Word tends to either choke or just plain corrupt your doc.

Can anyone help with a MS Word 98 problem?
I was working on a 70ish page Word document when it crashed..."not unusual"
I hear you say... ...except now I can't open the document without it
crashing...does anyone know how I can rescue my document?

TIA
Grace
