Server vs. Server

My company has several software products which they designate
as "servers". These products are meant to be installed on 
computers designated as servers. Thus in my install instructions 
I have to write such nonsense as "load the <product name> server
on a server". 

I checked the Microsoft Computer Dictionary and it accepts both
meanings of the word "server". It means both the software that
provides a service and the physical computer on which that software
resides.

I tried to use the terms "server software" and "computer" to
distinguish between the two entities. Both the product management
folks and the engineers resisted this. Does anyone have a good
suggestion as to how to differentiate between software that is a
server and hardware that is a server?
