RE: Document numbering schemes

I asked the same question a while ago, and the
best answer I got (I think) was to keep it short
and simple.  If you try to pack a lot of info
into the number, then you only wind up tripping
over mistakes and exceptions.  Nobody but you
understands the hidden significance of the number
anyway, so instead of trying to compress mucho
data into skimpy codes, keep the number simple and
maintain a table with all the information...
