Barry,
This is maybe the second most insidious check--after the healthcare
records check to see if you're a healthcare liability. What they're
looking for is your date of birth, a photo, and any driving violations
you might have. It's the way they get around the age and disability
discrimination clauses. They can choose not to hire you because of your
age, appearance, or disabilities, which have to be listed on your
drivers license. In addition, most states list your ssn on the license
too, so they can do a covert background/assets check if they feel the
urge.
