Let's think outside the box for a minute, here.

AFAIK, most of the new browsers display alt tags in little tooltip-type
bubbles when the mouse cursor rests over them. So, create a small graphic
to snuggle in beside the acronym and put the definition in the alt tag.

Waddaya think???
