I haven't used WP in years, haven't even bought the latest versions, in fact.
Dallas is a Microsoft enclave, especially with all the software development. The
last time a client requested WP was '94. I gave up using it for personal
correspondence, my resume, etc., back in '96 or '97 - 'bout when we started
e-mailing our resumes instead of faxing them.

At one time I knew WP almost well enough to be a guru. Now, of course, I'd be
lost, I'd get very frustrated using it. Like Ron, though, I thought it a
superior product. If Word screws up some code, you can't find it. In WP, you can
usually find it through Reveal Codes. It could create complex master documents
without blinking. You didn't end up cursing under your breath, your friends
didn't make the ward off evil sign when you mentioned WP and master documents in
the same breath. It had a lot more power and versatility. I can't speak for it,
now, of course. I never use it any more. It was more suited, in a lot of ways,
to what we tech writers do than Word.

But everyone (meaning the companies we work for) uses Word, we want to work,
personal preference and 55 cents buys me a soft drink from the vending machine!
