Howdy,

Our division has just been sold and we are now being spun-off
into a new start-up company. We need to have a complete new
look and feel within a year (more than just name and logo).

When we started looking at the conversion process, we decided
that we want to emphasize on-line viewing with print capabilities
rather than the opposite as we had done in the past. When
considering the future, XML makes more sense than plain pdf.
The more I read about XML, the more I feel like it will be a major
player.

Since we will not use MS-Word as an authoring tool, we will need
to get the SMEs new software anyway. So, it just makes sense to
consider a change over to XML as soon as possible. It will be
harder up front, but worth it in the long run. Besides, the _SMEs_
are excited about our considering XML. Anytime I can get the
SMEs excited about documentation, it is a good thing.

We have just started the discovery process for this project. I'm
trying to keep an open mind and consider any option. So, if you
have a better idea, I'm listening with open ears!!

Thanks,
