Another idea for showing your ownership:

Compress the pages between the front and back covers. Write your name with a
marker across the top of the compressed pages. That way, you can spot it on
someone's desk, even if the cover is under a pile of papers.

Of course, if the manual DOES fall into other hands, be prepared for someone
to call you up and ask you questions about it, long after you've ceased to
care.
