Actually, you have only one job. Your prime directive is:

Make your boss look good

Some things that contribute to that are:

1. Keep your boss informed of all the good things you do, so he or
she can take advantage of them in ways that are appropriate in your
organization.
2. Keep your boss informed of problems and potential problems that
may affect him or her. This does not mean constant complaining about every
obstacle you encounter. This just means providing warning of things that may
not be done right or on time, so that your boss cannot be blind-sided by a
problem from left field and "look bad".
3. Keep any disagreements that you have with your boss between you
and your boss. If the two of you disagree on a decision, do all your yelling
and arguing behind closed doors. Once the decision has been made, present a
face to the rest of the world that says you think this is a brilliant
decision. No eye-rolling allowed.
4. If you make a mistake, be sure to throw your body between your
boss and the stuff flying from the fan.
5. Pick your arguments. Only argue with your boss over things that
are vitally important. If you find that you are arguing often, you probably
need to be working for someone else.

And a sixth one for free: communicate, communicate, communicate.

If you do not respect your boss enough to follow the above rules,
you probably need to be working for someone else.
