TechWhirl (TECHWR-L) is a resource for technical writing and technical communications professionals of all experience levels and in all industries to share their experiences and acquire information.
For two decades, technical communicators have turned to TechWhirl to ask and answer questions about the always-changing world of technical communications, such as tools, skills, career paths, methodologies, and emerging industries. The TechWhirl Archives and magazine, created for, by and about technical writers, offer a wealth of knowledge to everyone with an interest in any aspect of technical communications.
Any online Help you include without the parent application will require a
write-up on how it is integrated and used in order to be truly an effective
addition to your portfolio.
Don't include CD content in any format that requires your audience (future
employers) to use specific technologies. Word docs and HTML Help might be
bad, as they may have an outdated version of Word or prefer Netscape or
another browser. If they have to work at looking at your stuff, that's one
strike against you.
CDs are static mediums. Links to a web site with newer content might be nice
if you expect any of your content to be updated regularly.
