"Do you have any opinion of the style guides; the Chicago Manual of Style
and the GPO Style Manual? Then I would be delighted to share your view.
...Which one of thee two would you chose if you are a technical writer,
writing for a global audience, not just USA?"

For a global audience, I might consider The Economist Style Guide, which is available in print. (You can probably preview it on Amazon.com.) It was also available online at www.economist.com until a few days ago, but it has been temporarily removed while The Economist's website is being reconfigured with a new CMS. It's expected to be available online again in a few days. Unless the US market will provide the bulk of your company's sales, your company may not want their documentation style to favor the US.
