If your mini manual contains more than just a few images, go for DTP
software for final layout. Word will break your heart trying to get the
images to stick where you want them.
Or, if your mini manual is complex or highly structured with many headings,
subheadings, sub subheadings, etc., and especially if you need to pull out
information so it behaves like an object set independently on a page (like
mini-toc's for each chapter or highlight notes next to other text), go with
a DTP software again for final layout. Your typographical control with a DTP
is so much better .... and for objects, text boxes in Word are a nightmare
to control and get worse, the more structured your document is. IMHO.
