Yeah, C.V. is a fancy way of sayine resume. It originates from the academic
world, where such things are used by professors seeking employment. It might be
worth looking into whether the British resume is actually structured along the
C.V. model, as C.V.s tend to have a predefined structure. When in Rome...

CV = curriculum vitae, what they call a resume. Don't know if it's law to
ask about a permanent move or not, but I suppose it would be a logical
question. They have to go through a lot of time/expense to obtain a visa for
you and if you don't plan to be there long it wouldn't make sense for
them...
was asked to send my "C.V." What is that? A cover letter?
A Resume??
Any help -- or even more educated guesses than mine -- would
be appreciated!
