Speaking of cross-genre writers, my very early favorite was Peter
McWilliams, who wrote The Personal Computer Book before anybody was
publishing catalogues of books on personal computers. The subtitle: What
are those television-typewriter things, anyway?
It was, and still is, a very friendly, witty, irreverent, and gentle
introduction to the world of computing.
Peter, a poet by inclination, was one of the authors of a series of
best-selling uplifting books beginning about 10 years ago. Among them: Life
101 and You Can't Afford the Luxury of a Negative Thought.
