Well that was educational. You're absolutely right.
I have a special "tinkering" archive in source safe where I can look into
this sort of thing without leaving tracks in stuff that matters. I set up a
couple of accounts, enabled multiple checkout and archived an old Word file.
I checked it out under one account, no problem. But when I tried to check it
out under the other account, VSS balked with the error message "Cannot
checkout perfplans.doc. It is binary and is already checked out."
So I guess you're out of luck. Sorry about that.
