Just for the record, the STC Special Opportunities Grants
program that Cheryl Reinertsen reminded us about yesterday
isn't the same as the STC Research Grants program that I
mentioned in my posting yesterday.

The STC Research Grants program is intended to fund original
qualitative and quantitative studies of the type that Elna
Tymes called for in her posting on Monday. The purpose of
that program is to encourage basic and applied research
projects that benefit STC members and the technical
communication profession.

The STC Special Opportunities Grants program is intended to
encourage activities that can develop and communicate new
information to members and the public. These opportunities
do not qualify as research programs. They include such
educational projects as pilot programs, new high school and
college curricula, or innovative teaching methods.
