In the Insert menu, click Caption.
In the Caption dialog box, select AutoCaption.
Scroll through the list of options and select the type of figure you are using.
Click OK to return to the Caption dialog box.
Click Ok again.

Now, each time you use that type of thing (Visio diagram, pict file, tif file,
etc.) a caption, automatically numbered, will be inserted according to the
options in the Caption dialog box. If you want to insert a single caption for a
single item:

1. Select the item in the document.
2. In the Insert menu, click Caption.
3. Customize the options in the Caption dialog box to your liking
4. Click OK
