I have a wonderful opportunity for a mid to senior-level Technical Writer.
Minimally, I am seeking a professional, career-oriented candidate who will
be
responsible for documenting telecommunications hardware pertaining to xDSL
technology. You must be comfortable working with and creating graphics to
complement your textual content. There may be an opportunity for you to
document
software and develop on-line help in the future.
Minimum Requirements:
4-6 years Technical Writing experience
FrameMaker
Knowledge of PDF-creation, Illustrator and/or VISIO, and HTML
Ability to design, plan, edit, and maintain documentation (hardcopy, PDF,
and
perhaps on-line help) for several product lines with minimal supervision
Ability to complete projects on schedule
Ability to maintain standard formats and styles while developing
highly-technical, detail-oriented manuals that describe the features and
functionality of hardware and (perhaps) software products
Ability to demonstrate confidence when interviewing engineers and marketing
personnel to obtain accurate descriptions of highly-complex features
Ideally, I am seeking candidates with a degree in Technical Communication or
an
Engineering discipline and direct experience in telecommunications.
(Candidates
with a degree in English will be considered if they demonstrate an aptitude
for
understanding engineering concepts through their previous work experience.)
You
will be the lead writer for multiple complex projects. You will attend and
contribute to all project meetings from on-set. You will interact with and
support other members of the Technical Publications group. You will conduct
review meetings. You will take on special projects outside the scope of
regular
tasks.
This is a bona-fide position located in Northern Virginia. Re-location
expenses
