In response to a question about autonumbering in Word 2000 initially posed

Based on my own preliminary experimentation, it appears that the worst
autonumbering problems of Word 97 live on in Word 2000. I plan to continue
using SEQ fields instead of autonumbering. (A tip about this is available on
our Web site at http://www.knopf.com/tips.htm.)
Perhaps autonumbering will truly work well in Word 2010. ;)
