My opinion? Plagiarism is still a bad thing, and your company should sue
Bubba. Unless your company received royalties from the sale of the book,
Bubba
"stole" the material. Proof? Verbatim excerpts from the company docs.
Even
if Bubba had re-written the work, a non-disclosure agreement would create a
liability for him.

Hurry up and get it done, only works if the material you are copying is from
other same company materials. Anything from outside requires permission or
else it is stealing.

Ethics have not gone out of style - just the b*lls to try and get away with
something like this.
