In UK, we have BS 4884 entitled "Technical Manuals". This is a three-part
standard that covers all technical manuals but it does lean towards
electronics and mechanics. Part 1 (ISBN: 0 580 2078 1) covers
"specification for presentation of essential information"; Part 2 (ISBN: 0
580 22018 4) is a guide to content; Part 3 (ISBN: 0 580 22019 2) is a guide
to presentation. The copy that I have is from 1992/1993 and the standard
may have been updated since.
