USING CASCADING STYLE SHEETS FOR EASIER WEB DEVELOPMENT
June 14, June 21, June 28 from 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM;
via your telephone. You will need access to your
computer or to printouts of the class handouts
during the teleclass calls. Have your textbook with you
during the class. (Textbook is listed at the end of this
message.)

* INSTRUCTOR: Margot Beutler-- a partner in Bonneau
& Beutler Association, an online communications and
training firm in Portland, Oregon, USA. One of Margot's

Margot is now bringing her popular, hands-on training
courses in web technologies to the teleclass format!
Margot is the outgoing President of the Willamette
Valley Chapter of the STC and a visiting instructor for
technical training at Portland State University.

* PREREQUISITE: Understanding of HTML formatting, tables,
and frames on any platform. Must be able to work in a
Win95/98/NT environment, even if this is not your major
platform. Basic working knowledge of Win95 or WinNT
operating systems. Bring your textbook.

* TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS:
A basic text editor is needed to create CSS:
Notepad or WordPad (Windows)
Simple Text (Mac)
Vi (UNIX)
To view your style sheets in action, you'll need a CSS-aware
browser:
Netscape 4.0 or higher
Internet Explorer 3.0 or higher
Opera 3.50 or higher

* GENERAL CLASS DESCRIPTION:
With Cascading Style Sheets, you gain a wide degree of
control over the design of your web pages with a fraction
of the coding it used to take using tables for layout.
CSS enables you to specify size, color, font, font decoration,
background color, and placement on the page. You will
even learn how to get a rollover effect on text links
without having to use graphics.
