POSITION TITLE: SME/Tech Writer
– Truck Engines

Position: Your specific experience in diesel engine diagnostics will be
the key to this position as a technical writer for failure analysis in
truck engines. Using your experience with failures, you will analyze and
write reports on various part failures, working with engineering and
service people to gather information.

Qualifications: Experience with the engineering or repair of auto/heavy
truck engines. Certifications a plus. You must be able to demonstrate
your engine savvy with parts at the interview. Excellent communication
skills and ability to use word processing software required. This is a 6
month contract position.

Location: Oakland County, MI

Type of Employment: Contract (6 month, possibility for extension)

Salary Range: $18-25/hour

Description: Using your skills and experience as a teacher, you will
create lesson plans for subjects such as Language Arts, Science and Social
Science for grades 9-12. You will be given subject assignments to create a
plan and write an introductory essay (750-1000 words) to be read by
students. These can be done from home and submitted by email, in a word
processing document format. You can talk with the publication editor by
phone to receive and review assignments. You will be given access to an
internet database for research purposes.

Company: An internationally known document archiving company, expanding
into CD-ROM, CBT and courseware.

Qualifications: Experience as secondary teacher or instructional designer,
and ability to write effectively for a high school audience. Good time
management skills to deliver the assignments on schedule. A writing sample
is required.

Description: Creating manuals for industrial computing products is a good
challenge for writers who are interested in engineering, technology and
high tech. In this position, you will work daily with people in the
engineering and manufacturing departments, gathering information which will
be used to create maintenance, instruction or repair manuals.

Qualifications: 1 or more years experience in technical writing in an
engineering, manufacturing or technical environment. Good investigative
ability to get the information you need and then, the ability to convey it
in technical and layman's terms for various audiences. You must be
familiar with Windows and Microsoft Office products. Experience with
desktop publishing software such as Pagemaker or Framemaker, and Adobe
Acrobat a plus. Experience with web based documentation also a plus.
Degree preferred, but not required.

Position Description: Join a large technical writing team to take on
projects such as documenting machine tool operations, start-up, shut-down,
safety procedures, etc. Duties include a combination of information
gathering in the manufacturing facility and data entry in an office
environment. This position provides a great opportunity for someone with
good writing skills and mechanical background to further their experience
with an excellent supervisor.

Qualifications: Good technical writing ability and experience using or
writing about one or two of the following: machine tools for metal removal
such as lathes, machining centers, broach, CNCs and grinders; PLCs; robots.
electrical controls panels; and MMI programming/panels. Must know how to
use MS Word and be able to work 50 hours a week.
