First, ditch the TM symbol. To enforce the trademark, legally, it only needs
to be in the frontmatter where the trademarks are defined
and on the first reference in the manual. Including elsewhere isn't
necessary and looks amateurish, although if you're converting to
online media, it wouldn't hurt to use it on the first reference of each
chapter.
As another writer suggested, paraphrasing using something like "The System,"
would work. I'd either adopt that suggestion, but I'd be more likely to
use a shortened version of the product name (which is a noun) as a noun.
Or just create an appropriate acronym, as you suggest.

Subject: Naming conventions
Hi everyone,
I have a problem with a new manual I am writing, and I am hoping to get some
feedback.
Throughout the manual I of course have to refer to the product I am
documenting. The product name is rather long, meaning the name, the TM
symbol, and the word system after it. That would be the correct usage of the
product name.
The previous writer used the full name throughout the document, including
trademarking and the word system. I am trying to find a way to shorten it by
declaring part of the name as an acronym. The main problem for me is the
fact that using the word System would confuse the user, ans using the
product name itself would mean using a trademarked name as a noun.
Is it acceptable to use the trademarked name if I declare it first as an
acronym? Are there any other ideas out there to solving this problem?
