I need some direction and was hoping I could get some advice.   I have an Associates Degree in Technical Graphics from Purdue University.  I have worked the last two years learning forging die design but feel that I am more suited for technical writing.  I would like to add classes to my Associates Degree that will qualify me to work in technical communications.  I could get a General Studies Bachelors Degree with an emphasis on writing from Indiana University.  I like the independent study because I live in a small town which is a substantial distance from any college.   Another possibility is to get a technical certificate in Technical Communications from Purdue University.  The Purdue classes focus more on technical writing and would take less time to complete, but I don't know if they will be enough in the eyes of potential employers.

If these courses are not the best way to go, I would appreciate any information on classes or degrees anyone can suggest.  Thank you very much.
