I like to back up two ways: weekly to a network server and also to a
CD-ROM/RW. I only like to work locally.

Of course, backups have problems too. For example, in February, we had a
server crash hard. That data has not been recovered, to date. A company I
worked for over a year ago just contacted me looking for some books. When I
left that company, I left copies on my local machine, the server, copies on
CD-ROMS at the local office, and mailed copies on CD-ROM to the corporate HQ
(all same rev). I described all of this to a VP before leaving, in addition
to sending a memo with the CDs to explain it all. So, where are these
backups now and how useful are they?

Hard drives and servers fail. CD burners and ROMs fail. I would not expect a
backup every day, but 52 a year ain't bad.
