Although this may seem very basic, I think some of the most important things
you could teach your students would be:
1. How to break down information into types (procedures, definitions,
concepts)
2. How to use the delete key - that is, knowing and accepting that
technical writing is a dish best served short and repeated often.
3. How to write for translation (avoiding colloquialisms, contractions,
possessives, etc.)
4. How to use consistency, parallelism, and active voice to make a more
powerful document.
