No you should never use 2 spaces after periods! (OOPS wrong discussion
;-).)

In all seriousness I was always taught to treat the acronym as if it was
the whole word/phrase/description. In other words: "a National Broadcast
Company employee" = "a NBC employee". This is also the way we are told to
do things here.
But I do believe this quickly becomes very much like the spaces after
periods debate.
