The safest way is to export by some kind of portable format, e.g.
- ASCII (DOS-Text), by which you will lose every formating except returns
- RTF (Rich Text Format), in which some formatting and properties (bold,
indent, etc)
are maintained
which can be imported in Quark.
Quark is a typical lay-out application for composing documents from
different sources: graphics and text as well.
It is quite possible you may import WinWord documents directly in
MacQuark, but since the typical translators to these programs always lag
one version behind, it is safer to save your Word document in Word95
format (Word 6 or 7) or even earlier instead of presenting the original
Word98 file (if applicable).
- Deliver graphics separated from the text
- Send the document accompanied with a print-out of the original - for
orientation
- Agree on markups in the text where to place the graphics
